Net Media Group Involved In Malware

It's A Front

If you are a website owner and have been approached by Net Media Group about buying advertising space on you site, proceed with caution.  Here at Spamlaws.com we have received information about this particular company and have learned that they serve as a front for the spreading of malware into the computers of your loyal users.  Do not attempt to do business with them.

What Is Malware?

Malware, also referred to as malicious software, is designed to infiltrate a computer system without the knowledge or the permission of the computer's user. The most popular form of malware is spyware, which is used by the malware installers to gather data about the computer's user in order to target their advertising based on the sites they can see that the computer user is surfing.

Beware Of Doing Business With NetMedia

According to complaints coming in from legitimate website owners, Net Media Group has been responsible for spreading the infection of spyware through their advertisements. According to the reports received, this particular company is extremely misleading and throughout the entire process of negotiating for ad space they seemed sincere, professional, and legitimate.  However, when the time came to send Net Media a monthly invoice and request payment, the company had vanished.  Phone numbers and email addresses no longer existed and payment was never received.  In fact, at the same time this scam was being discovered, the website, who served as a victim throughout this whole ordeal, was receiving complaints from users that when they clicked on ads sponsored by Net Media they were redirected to non requested sites and were infected with spyware.  This was very distressing for many of the users.  The websites that unsuspectingly posted these ads were not the sole victims of this scam; the innocent users of the site interested in the ads also fell prey as did the companies whose ads were being used to spread the spyware.

So, a warning to all website owners and providers.  Be sure to thoroughly research companies before accepting and posting ads.  Be sure to watch for signs like reluctance to pay up front for the ad space and take the time to visit the company's home site to look for suspicious activity.  You will save both yourself and your users lots of unneeded stress and aggravation and you can help begin to put such corrupt companies out of service.

Spyware has many ways of getting onto your computer, such as:

When you download programs - particularly freeware, or peer-to-peer sharing programs.

More covertly, spyware can install itself just by you visiting certain sites, by prompting you to download an application to see the site properly.

ActiveX controls. These pesky spyware makers will prompt you to install themselves while using your Internet browser
