Spam Suit Against Reunion.com Dismissed
A federal judge has dismissed a spam lawsuit filled by web users against Reunion.com, a social networking site. The judge sided against the plaintiffs saying that the users did not lose any money as a result of emails sent by the site and therefore no damages can be claimed. The plaintiffs originally brought this case to court because they received emails from the site inviting them to join the site. The site had obtained the email addresses and passwords of its users and then used this information to invite the site’s users’ friends to join by sending emails on their behalf. The plaintiffs claimed this was deception as it appeared that their friends had sent the email invitation.
